Repattern Your Brain, Repattern Your Life

You can repattern your brain to repattern your life. The automatic responses that drive your responses to situations you meet in life are based on your emotional and survival memories created by your life experiences. Whether you have experienced physical, emotional or chronic stress, you can work with the brain-body connection to experience greater integrity in your wellness and wellbeing.

“Whatever the circumstances of a child’s early life, and whatever the history and current state of that child, every human has the built-in power to improve, to change for the better, to significantly restore, and often to recover. Tomorrow, that person you see in the mirror can be a stronger, more capable, livelier, more powerfully centered, and still-growing person.”~Michael Merzenich

. The good news is that neural pathways can be altered through neuroplasticity. Resonance Repatterning® The process accesses established pathways that register in your muscles, tissues, muscles, organs, and glands through the Resonance Muscle-Checking process. Natural modalities of color, light, sound, movement, breath, fragrance, energetic contact, and consciousness science introduce new brainwaves, awareness, and neurotransmitters to create neurosynthesis and plasticity. This relies on the memory information stored in your body-mind system to create neuroplasticity by updating and changing function.

The Brain-Body Connection

These brain areas are examples of how thinking, feeling and action are connected between your mind and body.

Pre-Frontal Cortex: When the Pre-Frontal Cortex is in control, it allows you to be fully engaged in the present of your life so you can resonate with expanding your awareness, feeling, thinking, and acting as you open to new possibilities. This is where you can explore your connections with others. When the pre-frontal cortex is under-active in this brain area you can experience brain fog, difficulties with attention, focus, ability to follow through, decision-making, and disorganization.

Limbic Brain: The Limbic Brain colors how you process your emotions. This part of your brain affects your autonomic nervous system including blood sugar, hormones, temperature, respiration, and heart rate. This portion of the brain discerns feelings of safety or danger through the Amygdala. The Hippocampus embeds memory into the nervous system related to life-enhancing or depleting experiences. This creates the connection between your thoughts and feelings that influence your body responses through the HPA Axis.

The Cerebellum allows your system to create implicit memories that become automatic starting with learning skills and mastering a task. Over time this recall becomes automatic and unconscious affecting your thoughts and behaviors.

“Conscious thoughts, repeated often enough, become unconscious thinking.”~Dr. Joe Dispenza

Resonance Repatterning and Brain-Body Connection

The process of Resonance Repatterning, from the brain’s perspective, works by transforming the neural pathways through awareness, new information and experience. This changes while working at the frequency levels in specific brain areas, brain waves, and neurotransmitters. Changing neural responses in your brain is a conscious process that shifts your resonance with what nerve responses take place in your body and your mind.

As a hypothetical example, let’s say that in a session the issue in your life is related to an inability to focus, disorganization, and impulsivity. The issue thought statement might be “I can’t get anything done.”The feeling state your share might be “I feel scared and confused.” Checking in with how to create coherent neural pathways for new behavior through muscle-checking the statement “I focus on the task at hand,” might be the new possibility. The neurotransmitter or peptide that would support the shift would be checked from a list along with its benefits to enhance neural communications in your mind and body A frequency of light for the Hypothalamus with a color that muscle-checks for the missing color/light frequency would be considered to energize your system. Natural activities would be checked to enhance new connections in your body-mind system. for this example, let’s say the action of deep breathing checked in. A coherent statement from the identified brain area would be included. In this case, we work with the pre-frontal cortex. The coherent statement would be “I stay calm and focused and manifest my plans through effective actions.”  A frequency of a brainwave would be fused into the mix as well. For the sake of this example, an Alpha brainwave with a range of 8-13 cps would be muscle-checked for the exact frequency among the four options for brainwaves including delta, theta, alpha, and beta to decrease anxiety and bring focus.

All of these parts work at the frequency level with the material to create greater coherence, harmony, and balance in your body-mind system. The muscle-checking system in this process is then used to check for shifts in your system. You are ON or resonate with your new intentions when your thoughts, emotions, and body are wired for specific neural pathways that fire and connect your responses related to your positive intentions. You are OFF when neural pathways are inhibited or do not fire in the same habitual way related to the issues you brought to the session. With muscle-checking at the beginning and completion of the session, your system registers the shifts with your change in resonance.

These nerve impulsesin your brain communicate thoughts, feelings, sensations, and responses throughout your body. When your body and mind experience greater harmony and balance between your Autonomic, Parasympathetic, and Sympathetic Nervous Systems, this is reflected in the way you think, how you feel and respond to life, and what actions you take to create new possibilities.

Resonance Repatterning® Sessions are based on working with your body-mind-spirit systems’ ability to repattern your body-mind-spirit system. This means that the pain you experience on any level can be an opportunity for creating new possibilities in your life.

Transforming Stress: The Heart-Mind Connection

Your heart-mind connection contributes to transforming stress. Stress is a natural occurrence in your daily life. However, when chronic stress takes over by rumination, anxiety, worry, obsessive negative emotional states this creates confusion in your life.

On the physical level, science shows that in these instances, your heart beat and function change. Your digestion of food becomes more of a challenge. Your breath rate and blood pressure shift. Your Nervous System moves from the Parasympathetic or rest, digest and heal state into the Sympathetic state of preparation for danger and escape.

This escape mechanism when not interrupted or addressed can lead to a perpetual loop of worry, fear, anxiety, and need for numbing the overwhelm. You might be able to identify an experience in your life where you have experienced this chain reaction. And, even if you have tried different ways to calm the stress cycle with food, drink, running or moving away from a stressful situation, taking on a person or situation that you have no power to change, or shutting down and isolating, the loop is still there. It can attempt to serve you with anger, criticism of yourself or others, hate, jealousy, and even isolation. However, this can lead to a deep sense of hopelessness and energy depletion.

The loop still presides because there is a direct connection between your body and mind, your heart and your thinking. When negative emotions, thoughts, and beliefs have been cast into neural pathways in your mind, your beliefs, thoughts, and feelings are directly related to how your body responds to what life presents to you in any given moment even when you attempt to suppress them. They return.

If you have followed articles from this website, you know that the Fire Element in Chinese Medicine and your heart give you the opportunity to love, experience joy, warmth and connection with the ability to discern between what is energetically beneficial and what is not life-energizing. The Institute of HeartMath in San Diego has done research on the impact on the electrical field around the heart and brain in varied states. When the heart is stressed, the electromagnetic field is smaller than when the heart is focused on love, gratitude, joy, or appreciation. This created calm and coherence. This pattern turns out to correlate with the electromagnetic field of the brain. There is a synergy between the function and coherence of your heart and mind.

Transforming Stress with Your Heart

For example, if your mind is racing, it is an opportunity to ask the question is, “What is in your heart?” Stop for a moment to focus on your breath and tune into your heart. Get a reading of what you are experiencing in your heart area right now, what messages do you receive? Do you hear the stress or do you hear the connection to life-enhancing calm? Acceptance of where you are right now will support your entire body-mind system to register what is happening and influence your next steps.

,There is a healing relationship between what your survival and early emotional brain and your heart’s wisdom has to offer in addressing unconscious material stress responses. Bringing awareness and acceptance and tending to the origin of these habitual or automatic stress responses, your heart is capable of updating your long term memory. This allows you to experience more and more what you would like to experience in your life related to the values you would truly like to live today.

There is no day where you experience 100% happiness or sadness. There will be days that you experience stressful situations, and some more than others. Yet, within these days are the possibilities for noticing what is helpful, beautiful, joyful, and meaningful. The way to get more choice in your day is to allow your values to lead by accessing your heart’s reach into your mind to observe with kindness and connection what is happening. By seeing the stressful feelings, thoughts, and beliefs as the observer, you then offer an off ramp from the intensity and stress aligned with your values.

“When you stand with yourself in a self-compassionate, kind, loving way, life opens up and then you can turn toward meaning and purpose, and how you bring love, participation, beauty, and contributions into the lives of others.” ~Steven C. Hayes, founder of ACT Therapy

Transforming Stress with Your Mind

Here you can notice what is happening without being held captive. You can literally thank your mind for sharing. You can expand your flexibility of choice with each stress response by tuning into or just noticing your breath. You can detach or defuse from being tied to a negative a thought, belief or feeling to just notice or observe. A statement you might use is “I notice that I am having a thought that…,emotion of, or belief that…” This allows there to be a state of acceptance of what is happening right now. By letting it be, it is possible to give space to any underlying messages or needs, and this can calm your mind and your heart. This allows you to more coherently think, to feel, and then to act.

The pathway to unity between these healing agents creates greater wholeness. It creates room for your heart, mind, and emotions to function more optimally while restoring energy for your priorities.

This can happen with visualization, connecting to your true values for your day or longer term projects, meditation, and/or noticing what your mind believes is true through journaling. In this way, your commitment to wholeness is accessed through changing your breathing pattern, and noticing, with connection to your heart’s compassion. It allows an opportunity for calming your body-mind system and moving into greater flexibility, resilience, focused coherence, or the rest, digest and healing state.

This is an invitation to give yourself the opportunity to explore underlying material that needs your heart’s compassion, and to experience 10 natural modalities to use for creating calm for your mind and heart working together with your values for living life based on purpose.

Going Upstream to Resource Your Life

“I asked how did we get here? What can we do to change?

The water replied, “There is always an upstream, a current, and a downstream

The upstream affected you

Your heroes, your choices, your lessons,

Your thoughts and your dreams.

They are your upstream

Where you are right now is this moment

The moment that determines the change

To create the rhythm and pulse of how the current runs and what proceeds, (journal poem by Kimberly Rex)

Resonance Repatterning® draws on information that goes upstream to resource your life today. When a session brings up an earlier experience at a particular time, level, and place in your body-mind-spirit system it taps into the impact of life-depleting patterns as well as positive resources that originated upstream. We all have basic needs that contribute to physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual wellness and well-being related to physical safety and security, connection to others, and the need for purpose.

. When an unmet need is present in a session, it indicates what part of the puzzle has been missing. For example, the need for “giving and receiving loving touch,” can point to an absent, stressed out, or abusive pattern in the family. In some cases, this pattern originates with the client’s parents.

At other times, the pattern of neglect, stress, or abuse can be generational and begin upstream with your ancestors perhaps due to separation, war, illness, or addiction, to name a few.

The importance of identifying the energetic material upstream is to access the disruption of energy that blocks you from the potential to meet the need for “giving and receiving loving touch” by clearing the pathway of the obstruction. By doing so you are connected to the gifts, lessons, and positive attributes of your Family System as well.

The beauty of this possibility is that you can then take the life-enhancing material from your system even if you don’t know the ancestor. In fact, the material might be single or double-digit in a number of generations to access a time, place, and person (people) in your family system who can give you the life energy connection to that need for giving and receiving loving touch.

In clearing the pathway, the information becomes available to all of the people in your Family System to work with the lessons from the past to contribute to the present with encouragement from your vital energy line while updating patterns in current situations and relationships today.

As an example in my own life, in working with the upstream of a repetitive pattern of abandonment of members on both sides of my family, I was able to access compassion from their stories. In the process, my awareness shifted from feeling aligned with this pattern to resonating with the gifts of these family members. They were artists, poets, wonderful cooks, generous spirits, and immensely creative. When I now look at my life through this new lens, I activate these strengths as part of my own legacy, and this gives me hope, courage, and an expanded vision of what life can be today. I may not be able to bake at the level that my grandmother did, but I think of her every time I am baking and call on her for encouragement.

It is like adding a missing page that has been left or ripped out of a book you are reading. This gives you insight into the disruption of energy you have experienced in your attempts to create something new without the guidance or permission to expand your awareness to include both the wisdom from the past related to the life-depleting pattern, and, the access to the flow of energy related to resourcing life-enhancing patterns. This happens with a change in vision about your life and can begin to create small steps to reorganize your beliefs about what is possible.

Life-depleting feelings accompany the lack of resolution in meeting unmet needs. Fear, anxiety, hurt, confusion, anger, sadness, etc. point to material that needs compassionate attention. This attention connects you to the underlying need that has not been activated in your current life.

Coupled with the unmet need and feeling, the mental aspect of a life-depleting pattern determines the thoughts that fuel the continued search for attempting to get unmet needs met from the perspective of a stress or trauma-reactive living state. This can color your discernment in your ability to move toward or away from people, actions, and situations that are safe, and life-enhancing. or depleting and dangerous.

Your ability to begin to align with your own inner values starts with evaluating these patterns, and recognizing where you sense that your actions might be reinforcing generations of conflict and limitation. Where you feel you need a change in perspective, you can begin to sort out the depths of harm to your inner values that have kept you from putting your positive life-enhancing values into action in your own life today.

It starts with insight to be able to step into a new experience of life. This ability to reach into the wounds of the past allows you to find the light that comes from your core essence. And, from this place, you can build a new life experience created with activating coherence with your values connected to greater vitality, joy, loving interactions, compassion, and well-being.

Why You Should Listen to Your Gut

There are many reasons why you should listen to your gut. Dr. Michael Gershon in his book entitled, The Second Brain, states that there are 100 million transmitters and more nerve cells in the gut than there are in the entire peripheral nervous system. Nearly every chemical that controls the brain in the head has been identified in the gut, including hormones and neurotransmitters. This means that the biofeedback and nudges you get from your gut are essential for your wellness and well-being!

The vagus nerve is the main nerve in the enteric nervous system. This explains why you get butterflies in your stomach before a test or performance, how the quality of your sleep affects your mood and ability to focus, and how anxiety response impacts your digestion. The gut has serotonin and opiate receptors much like your cranial brain, has the same rhythm cycle during sleep, and produces chemicals that support anti-anxiety and pain relief.

On the physical level, prescription drugs, dietary toxins, pollution, and unhealthy eating habits play a role in minimizing communication within your gut. On the mental and emotional levels, you are affected by resonating with external authority and stressors over trusting your own body’s messages. So it’s an invitation to create greater harmony and balance within so you can trust what your gut is telling you.

Chinese Medicine, with its Five Element System of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water has always held the belief that everything you need to know comes from within, and that what you experience within directly influences how you experience life. Earth Element correlates with the stomach and is related to your needs for nourishment and support. Fire Element correlates with Small Intestine, and is related to discernment. Metal Element has a direct correlation with Large Intestine’s impact on your life when you need to let go of habitual Reptilian Brain fight or flight responses ingrained over time from earlier experiences so you can connect more deeply to your true values.

Your body is a map of your life’s experiences. Your energy body is storing this information. In order to get in touch with some biofeedback you might take some time to ask yourself these questions:
*What do I value?
” (Ask this question about different aspects of your life including relationships, home, family, environment, etc.)
* Do I feel connected to my spiritual and life purpose?
* Do I respect, listen and act upon internal guidance?
* Do I have some unfinished business to release or take care of?
* Am I in mourning or grieving something or someone?
* What is the stress I am experiencing in life tell me about my need for nurture and support? How is this affecting my stomach and digestion?
*What do I need to do to directly take care of nurturing my gut?
What do I need to let go of physically, mentally, and emotionally?

Take action with this information to create steady and ongoing insight that will support you in making choices for life-energizing direction including foods that are best suited and not best for you, acknowledgment of feelings and life needs, as well as what motivates, inspires, and supports your life.

You are wired for success and self-healing. When you listen to the wisdom of your body, you are better able to experience harmony and balance by taking action with that insight. Health is, after all, about creating greater wholeness. By empowering the communication of your internal systems, you create the opportunity for more life-enhancing energy for your positive intentions in life and this creates a greater sense of well-being.

Communicating Your Feelings in Relationships

John Gray, an author, states that your ability to feel love is in proportion to your ability to tell the complete truth about your feelings. In Family Systems work this includes the possibility that your early family experience taught you that certain emotions were allowed, while others were not tolerated. Communicating your feelings in relationships is directly related to your early family experiences.

For example, perhaps in your family, it was okay to show your “happiness,” but not your sadness or vice versa. This would make it difficult to express the range of emotions any place on the spectrum related to these two poles: happiness or sadness. This could have shown up in a family where you were told over and over again to smile or to put up with situations that were painful.

Not expressing sadness could have also been a way to take care of a parent who was depressed or ill. In some cases expressing any emotion or feeling could have felt dangerous. These earlier emotional state experiences would limit your ability to communicate your feelings and needs in your current relationships. This would diminish your ability to experience greater intimacy, choice, or your ability to live your values in action.

In order to work with communicating your feelings, you must first be able to give yourself permission to get in touch with what you are feeling, and how it is affecting you.

When you find yourself feeling critical, judgmental, afraid, or angry, this points to an unmet need in the present that could have been triggered by material from the past. The way you attend to these feelings in the present can give you a window of understanding into the reason you feel separated from the truth within yourself today. Unresolved negative earlier experiences create repetitive negative communication patterns in your relationships today.

This could show up in patterns related to communicating your feelings in the following ways.

  • Suppression of highly charged feelings that lead you to withdraw into yourself with an inner sense of fear, guilt, or disconnect from what your body is telling you
  • Discharge of highly charged feelings through anger, tears or gossip. This could lead to talking negatively about the other person to others, and/or blaming the person who upset you for what you are experiencing without ever resolving what is going on inside of you.

Communicating your feelings in a coherent way in the present would include sharing feelings about what is going on inside you at a deeper level. Acknowledgment of your need that is not being met would allow you to resolve the emotionally charged and painful feelings from the past. By doing so, your system creates space for all of your feelings including those not allowed in your family’s rules so they can inform and energize your life. By doing so you then have access to the full spectrum of your emotions for feedback, and a deeper connection to love for yourself and others.

Being able to communicate your feelings is beneficial for your relationships in that it gives you the ability to give and receive feedback in a nourishing way. This includes expressing your need and communication of your feelings related to the behavior of a person instead of the person themselves. It allows you to change how you perceive the situation, and also builds a foundation for respectful interaction in your relationships. Instead of attacking the essence of another person, it becomes possible to work with new possibilities for changes in how you interact. This makes it easier to work with your needs and the boundaries that are important for you to start, sustain or complete communications that match your inner values.
