Bringing Your Inner Essence into the Outer World

Bringing your inner essence into the outer world on a daily basis has its challenges. Your thoughts and beliefs about your inner world and the meaning you give your experience impact on how you navigate day-to-day living with your communication, relationships and sense of overall well-being. When you are aligned with your inner essence you are better able to orient to what is life-enhancing for your choices, decisions, and actions.

Inner World

Your inner world consists of thoughts and images you have about yourself and the world based on attitudes and beliefs from your family, stress factors, memory imprints, and earlier experiences. Bringing light to unconscious material creates the opportunity to choose between feeling overwhelmed, stressed, afraid and reactive, or sense of calm, compassion for self and others, and inner peace. Knowing that you have a choice allows your core essence to access your inner compass to create greater freedom.

“It is precisely because we resist the darkness in ourselves that we miss the depths of the loveliness, beauty, brilliance, creativity, and joy that lie at our core.” ~Thomas Moore

Outer World

When you are disconnected from your inner compass, self-judgment, self-doubt and fear can keep you from taking action. This can also limit your ability to express your inner truth and values. This can lead to the feeling that you have to change how you interact with others to reduce possible judgment or conflict with them.

This can also lead to making choices that keep your truth from being seen or heard. In fact, this can contribute to compensating for or giving up your truth to receive acceptance, love, and validation from others.

Either way, by protecting or managing possible hurt or creating false hope for getting needs met, you limit access to the wisdom of your inner essence and its potential to radiate into the world.

“Healing is the rediscovery of who we are and who we have always been.” ~Joan Borysenko

Meaning

Finding your inner compass allows you to benefit from wisdom and discernment so you can respond to what is happening in front of you. When you are aligned with the insight, inspiration, and affirmation of your inner compass you are better able to respond to life from a place of true author-ship. You do so by consciously aligning with your gold standard for living and action.

This happens by giving meaning to your past experiences to unveil the messages, unmet needs and limiting patterns from your past experience, family system and groups. Taking the lessons from your experience creates the opportunity for new possibilities and positive choice. By doing so, you become more oriented to your own essence and direction of your spiritual and life journey.

“The past is your lesson. The present is your gift. The future is your motivation.” ~Unknown

This is your personal invitation to work with the lessons of the past so you can experience greater choice in the present to create the future you’d like to experience.

Coherence: In the Process towards Self-Actualization

Building coherence in the process of positive change leads to self-actualization. Resonance Repatterning® works by transforming non-coherent material related to limiting beliefs, attitudes, thoughts, and reactions that have created conflict in your life. By getting to the heart or root of these life-depleting patterns, your body-mind system can update this information so that you resonate with more coherent life energy that creates vitality to dedicate to your positive intentions for life. What you resonate with, is what you will experience in your life.

Maslow's Heirarchy image from Wikipedia.org
Maslow’s Hierarchy image from Wikipedia
This hierarchy illustrates the importance of basic needs being met in the process of self-actualization starting with the base and moving toward the top of the pyramid.

You are wired for success and self-healing. When you are oriented to the present, this is where true positive change can happen. Your emotional and survival brain where your unconscious patterns reside does not know the past or future, only right now. When you experience shifts in a Resonance Repatterning® session, your brain is able to update memory imprints and make positive shifts in response to these updates through building coherence in your system overall. This means that instead of experiencing hyper-vigilance, living at a survival level, insecurity, or feeling of lack of safety, belonging, or sense of self-esteem, your body-mind system creates new more life-enhancing pathways, choices, and freedom for experiencing more vital life-enhancing energy as you move through the process towards self-actualization.

When you resonate with the truth of your positive intentions in the present, you are better able to orient yourself to what is beneficial for your life force today. This shows up in your ability to tune in to the messages that come from your true self through inner awareness creating more discernment, inner balance, confidence, and equilibrium. Doing so, allows you to become more aware of what is in front of you by expanding your ability to see, feel, sense, and respond from your inner compass so you can either move towards or away from life experiences and situations that present love, calm, nurture, safety, and trust, or genuine threats of danger.

The 4 Levels of Coherence in the Resonance Repatterning Process

1) Coherence for Who You Are

When you resonate with your personal strengths, this allows you to be in the present in order to become aware of your feelings, thoughts, sensations, and needs. This is the first step to building coherence in self-love and awareness, wellness, and well-being. When your body-mind system communicates better, your experience of life becomes more mindful as you consider the messages this feedback gives you. This creates both grounding and flexibility in the journey of being more aligned with your center. At the same time, this allows you to be in a process with a greater sense of commitment in your own growth process when you experience stress and challenges in your life.

2) Coherence in How You Relate

As you become more aware of your inner world, and your values, you are better able to see what is happening in your relationships with others. You are only able to see in others what you are able to see in your self. If limiting beliefs and patterns have kept you in a position that was created by a traumatic or unresolved experience in the past, you will only see through that lens until you heal that material.

Being in a relationship with another person whether that be intimate, business or friend requires that you have the capacity to listen and interact on the basis of how much you feel safe and trust. Resonating with your inner relationship skills will allow you to choose relationships that create life-enhancing benefits that stream both ways in the balance of giving and receiving.

3) Coherence in What You Do

The Buddhists have a beautiful tenet that says, “ Remember who you are, and know what you do.” This speaks to aligning with your inner truth, strengths, and connection to love. By doing so you have the capacity to draw upon your inner awareness based on love and compassion rather than being driven by fear or reaction from shame, guilt, hurt, and fear activated by harmful past experiences.

4) Coherence in Your Understanding

Creating positive change in your own life develops through understanding that it is a process. Letting go of regrets, self-pity, resentment, fear, grief, anger and negative judgments allow you to be in the personal growth process amid challenges that come with making positive change. This creates a space for you to create the life you want to experience through self-actualization.

Once you are able to understand your own way of seeing from your center, you are better able to acknowledge the view of another through understanding that every person has their own perception or way of seeing based on their own life experiences, cultural and family beliefs that affect their ability to be in the present. This impacts how they relate to you and to life, in general. This leads to a greater sense of compassion for others in the process of being compassionate with yourself in the process.

Whether this is a family member, partner, business colleague, or community member, this expands the potential to experience the possibility of peace through diverse views. In this way, this also creates the potential for finding ways to communicate and listen to the needs that you have in common to develop better group coherence. By doing so, it is then possible to create positive change that emerges from the need for life-enhancing needs that create benefits for all.

In Winter: Dive Deep to Rejuvenate Your Life Energy

In winter when cold, ice, and snow cover the Earth, it can feel difficult to believe that warmth and light will ever return. Perhaps you’ve found yourself feeling stuck, and think nothing is happening of any value. The truth is that much is happening internally that is of great value. If you dive deep you can restore and rejuvenate yourself for greater life energy.

In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer.” ~Albert Camus

Allow me to share this personal story.  A few years ago after a winter storm, and when the snow finally melted a bit, I decided to take advantage of some of the sunlight to get out of the house. I took a walk around one of the beautiful glacial lakes here in these Cascade Mountains. What I noticed was that part of the lake was still frozen, while the other half was still flowing. In the part that was flowing, ducks were swimming and searching for plants close to the banks. In the part that was frozen, ice created webbed patterns making it difficult to see beneath the surface.   I watched two men throwing stones into the frozen part of the water. The first man was throwing heavy stones into the icy end making a huge impact at the surface as it descended into the lake. The second man was skipping a small stone across the ice. This made beautiful tones that rang out across the lake. The visual impact and sounds of these stones really stayed with me.

When I shared what I saw with my Science teacher-parent, he responded, We seldom appreciate the wonders of water in winter in its relationship to supporting life. When we see frozen water, it is often associated with an absence of flow and life. But, its unique features allow nature to function properly in the process of change. An example that many of us would never notice, and might take for granted, is that ice floats on lakes in the winter. What we miss is the fact that water when it gets colder falls to the bottom of the lake. When water gets close to freezing, it then rises to the surface. This causes the ice to form on the top, and in so doing, turns the water over completely in the lake. This turning over moves the nutrients in such a way that aquatic life is refreshed.” ~Dr. Robert Knodt

The process of inner growth is like that for us, too. It takes diving deep into the unseen and then allowing time and space for the process to unfold. A heavy stone dives deep.  It can be hard at first. Feeling all our feelings, getting in touch with the message underneath can lead to greater compassion, understanding, and forgiveness. When you give yourself the time to go through a process of accessing your inner truth, you come back with greater clarity.  Through mindfulness, it is the process of turning over your inner lake.

Your interior life depends on listening. Subtle or seemingly small encounters, synchronicity, or messages in your daily life can change your perspective while renewing your energy. This is like the second stone ringing out across the ice carrying a message to inform all of your life. Everything in the Universe can be a messenger. There is nothing too small or insignificant.  A newsletter heading, the cashier at Starbucks, or a small gesture of someone smiling or holding the door can make the difference between gloom and bloom!

When you begin to trust the messages from within and realize that the Universe is conspiring with you to build your spiritual self-esteem, doorways open to new possibilities and awareness.   Taking action with the guidance and wisdom you receive will bring balance and more harmony to your life. Every single event, person, situation, the reason for joy, pain or grief has, in fact, the potential to lead to a greater expansion of spiritual awareness and connection to nourishment. Through this lens, you can begin to see places in your life where you have felt stuck or frozen where your inner lake was turning over differently. When this time comes, spend time and dive deep to create new harmonics to create harmony in your life.

The time you take for reflection will improve your quality of response to whatever life is presenting to you next. It might feel like it is impossible to take action when you are stuck, depressed, or in grief. But, by going through the process of self-care, it is then possible to emerge with greater insight and renewal.  Give voice to your thoughts through journaling.  Draw, dance, and play the music that helps you feel connected to harmony.  Build in a movement practice that incorporates a focus on your breath. Read material that will help deepen and expand your understanding. Find a compassionate listener. Eat healthy foods. Spend time in nature. Take inventory of what is good about you! Find a way to go with the flow.  Rest and renew.

Each session dives deep in a way that brings more life energy and nourishment to your life with natural modalities designed to help you feel more energized, centered, and empowered.

Making Medicine from Poison with Expressive Art Therapy

If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.                                                            ~Buddha

This is the first week of the pen and ink challenge for #Inktober. I decided to make medicine from poison with Person-Centered expressive art therapy. It was an emotional challenge to make medicine from poison in watching the Supreme Court hearings. I found myself feeling peeled open to the core, and felt unprotected in the overwhelm of the abuse, pain, power, and non-coherence. I was spiraling down. I needed to take a break from the chaos and found solace in these drawings. For this reason, after looking at the word prompts for the first week, I decided to make medicine from poison through Person-Centered expressive art therapy.

My drawings started on Day 2 with the word, #Tranquil as Day 1 was #Poisonous, and needed to create medicine from the start. To add stillness in the midst of all of this material that derailed my energy, my breath, and my sense of well-being was the healing template for gathering all the words together to create wholeness. The Chinese characters in the upper left-hand corner with the protection mudra mean, “Peace and Safety.” The protection mudra has within it a beam of light with a flame and heart. Protection and a sense of peace create a calm heart and are home to the hearth of safety and trust.

I decided to make medicine through the week from the image of #tranquil to transform the #poison. This pen and ink, in its current iteration, is the result of navigating these waters.

The other drawing cues were #Roasted, #Chicken, #Drooling, #Spell. #Venom and #Exhausted. The symbols are all interpreted from the beginning with Buddha in tranquility offering the protection mudra. Safety is a harbor in the midst of poisonous material whose venom can affect us at our core if we allow it. The rooster in Buddhism is a reference to “desire.” Whether it is a desire for a particular personal outcome, or the desire on the big screen of our world, staying in touch with your breath to support your well-being is key to sustain your health and energy reserves. Self-care allows you to pace yourself over time.

The moon is a reference to emotion, and a reference to the spell emotions can cast when attached to an outcome or overwrought with emotions. Mindfulness through meditation, coming into a still place, and accessing the bigger picture creates the opportunity to regulate our emotions. The venom and “drooling” related to force without heart or compassion create imbalance. This imbalance immobilizes and restricts your ability to feel centered, connected to love,

However, tuning into the messages from inside your breath and your heart, makes it easier to relax, feel calmer, hear the messages, receive the guidance and the balance that is needed to respond to feelings in the present, take action, or ask for help in the process.  For more information on how to use breath patterns to create calm in your body-mind system and create natural endorphin-stress responses, read more here: http://www.windowstotheheart.net/remembering-to-breathe-on-the-emotional-roller-coaster/

It is a process, and the road seems long, even if it is opening in ways we do not yet know or understand. But, I do know that as I look at this Medicine Buddha, there are options, and through breathing and pacing ourselves we can all deepen and expand our heart connections to create positive change even if it is one step at a time.

I now have this Medicine Buddha on a music stand in my living room to take in all of the images. Please use this Medicine Buddha, if you feel called, as a reminder that you, too, are protected. You, too, are safe. You, too, are loved.

Much love,

Kimberly

Personal Note: This ink drawing is made with a technique called Pointillism with stippling. I am still wanting to add more detail with color or brush. I love multi-media so I could not resist adding the glass shapes over the images that were drawn underneath. Next week I am looking forward to creating a new possibility with ink and brush.

Resonating with Optimism and Taking Unhesitating Action with Your Positive Intentions

In spring, it’s important to look at what you would like to create through resonating with optimism with unhesitating action with your positive intentions. In nature, winter is a time of seeming dormancy, however, underneath the surface there is a recollection and conservation of energy for new life and possibilities. With the increase of hours of daylight and warmth new plants emerge with the encouragement of the sun and temperature.

“Nature looks dead in winter because her life is gathered into her heart.  She withers the plant down to the root that she may grow it up again fairer and stronger.”  Hugh Macmillan

In the same way, you, too, can access your vital energy for positive change. Your resonance with emotion that has been delegated for transformation sets the stage for the kind of energy and change you experience within and how you experience life in the world.

Every emotion is a signal that points to a response or reaction to something in your life either in the present or in response to past events or experiences. These emotions correlate with both coherent and non-coherent energy, and have a direct relationship to how you respond to life in any given moment.

As plants in spring respond to nourishment from the exterior world, they first resonate with taking nurture from the soil, the air, the rain and sun. They are oriented to what is life-enhancing. As they move up into the light, they trans-form through expansion. At the same time, they are also grounded in their roots and core in the process of creating new possibilities.

In Resonance Repatterning® your resonance is where your life energy is dedicated. If your life energy is dedicated more to fear, hate, anger, grief or worry, you are not open to being able to take what you need from life to nourish you or experience life’s gifts in the present. You are more likely to feel de-energized overall by the scope of these emotions over time when untended. In sessions, I refer to this material as taking “emotional real estate.”

What changes where your life energy is dedicated? Your emotions point to an underlying unmet need that has not yet been heard, acknowledged or understood. Anger can be unfinished business from the past, fear can be from a limiting belief that has been reinforced over time rooted in an earlier experience, grief can be from a separation or loss,  and worry can be from an anxious state that has not yet been resolved through your Nervous System. When these emotions rule your inner world, they can lead to depression, isolation, pessimism, and physical dis-ease. This does not allow for expansion or ability to orient towards what is life-energizing.

“To let go is to release the images and emotions, the grudges and fears, the clingings and disappointments of the past that bind our spirit.” ~Jack Kornfield

The beauty of working with Resonance Repatterning is the knowledge that all emotions have coherence and non-coherence purpose. Your anger can move you towards optimism, your fear can uncover courage, your grief can lead you to inspiration, and your hate can lead you to greater compassion. Through a session’s work, coherent roots of support and nurture in the present emerge through healing your core essence on the emotional, mental, physical and spirit levels. By doing so, you can be more in tune with the nourishing state of inner freedom and choice.

As we approach the season of new possibilities, spring, where would you like to dedicate your life energy?  Where do you need more life energy for your positive intentions?
